The Linda Vista Communities of Excellence in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention (CX3) project represents the CX3 community engagement efforts in the North Central region of San Diego County, and is based at Bayside Community Center in the Linda Vista neighborhood. Community leaders who graduated from the from the Resident Leadership Academy (RLA), which Bayside Community Center facilitates, comprise the community members involved in these CX3 efforts.
The Resident Leaders in Action group, as these RLA graduates now call themselves, are trained to lead efforts that focus on community leadership and advocacy, crime prevention and safety, and healthy food systems and food access.
Along with County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency staff and other community partners, this team has identified projects in their neighborhood related to walkability, safety in and near community parks, and expanding access to fresh, pesticide-free produce in the community. The Linda Vista RLA group began meeting in September 2013.
To date, there have been two RLA groups based at Bayside Community Center, which have joined together into one group for future CX3-related community efforts.
