The Lincoln Park Communities of Excellence in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Prevention (CX3) project represents the CX3 community engagement efforts in the Central region of San Diego County. In 2012, the CX3 project in the neighborhood of Lincoln Park in Southeastern San Diego trained community residents to conduct community assessments of access to healthy food and walkability. Since then, community improvement projects have been initiated throughout the neighborhood to increase access to healthy food and physical activity opportunities in Lincoln Park.
Among the current developments for the Lincoln Park CX3 team is the launch of a CX3 Youth Engagement Academy at Lincoln High School. Throughout summer 2014, students identified and began planning for school improvement efforts for the upcoming school year.
